Effective August 2026

A press for people who have been shut out should not put its own website behind a wall. We intend this site, and the books we publish, to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or high-contrast settings.

What we aim for

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as our standard for this site.

What we have done

• Every form field has a visible, programmatically associated label.
• The site is navigable by keyboard alone, and focus is clearly visible.
• Text and background colors are chosen to exceed the AA contrast ratio.
• The imprint's mark carries a text alternative describing it.
• Headings are real headings, in order, so the page can be navigated by structure.
• The layout reflows for small screens and tolerates text enlargement without loss of content.
• No content flashes, moves, or auto-plays.

Our books

Ebook editions are produced with structural navigation and alternative text for figures. If you need a Hinam Press book in a different accessible format, ask us — we will make one if we can, at no charge.
